This game was created from scratch in two weeks for AdventureXJam 2020.

Full-length version now in production!

After three years and 50,000 downloads, this free game is finally getting made into a full-length adventure as "Heir of the Dog".

You can find out more about it at: heirofthedog.co.uk.

Synopsis

Play time: 1 hour

After a mysterious explosion over Victorian London, Cummerbund Bandersnatch visits his uncle to find he's been experimenting with a new formula he's created in an attempt to give himself a "good time".

Seduced by the promises in his uncle's journal, Cummerbund decides to drink the same formula and discovers that his life will no longer be the same again (at least between the hours of 8pm - 8am daily).

Can he reverse the effects of the formula before it's too late?

Playing with time

This point & click adventure game can be played in "real time". Meaning that if you play it between the hours of 8pm - 8am some of the scenes, objects, actions and characters differ to those found during the rest of the day. However there is a way to control time if you are in a rush!

It's highly recommended that you read Bandersnatch's indispensable "How to play this game" guide before playing.

Would love to know more about the development of this game (and Lucy Dreaming). Do you have a dev [b|v]log?

Sure, there’s a bit of an archive available here: https://lucy-dreaming.com/blog/ 😊

Thanks so much, these were great to read. Congrats on your success!

Thank you!!! :

Great game! The day/night mechanic is a nice unique feature. I somehow missed it at first because I only saw the first page of the guide for some reason, so I was a bit stuck until I randomly loaded the game in the daytime and then figured it out. After that it was all plain sailing. Nice unique puzzles, funny dialogue, and great voice acting. I liked the Blur Parklife reference!

Great game!

But it seems I'm stuck as I can't get infested. I'm standing close, but nothing triggers. :(

You may have to walk a little bit closer by clicking on the ground right next to it… and be hairy. 😊

Thanks, but I really think my game/save was corrupted.

I tried everything for minutes (+ I watched a video to see, where I had to stand).

Then I loaded a save from another session and it immediately worked.

Hmm, no idea. It’s not something I’ve heard of before. 😅

All I can say is, the game was made from scratch in 12 days, so I’m not entirely surprised if there’s an occasional glitch.

It's no big deal. It just felt really strange that I couldn't trigger it, and I thought I wouldn't be able to complete the nice little game.

If you are interested, I can send you the savegame. But it's completely understandable, if you're not interested. ;)

Very strange! Yeah, go on then, it would be really handy to see what's gone on there.
Please could you email the .dat file to tom@tallstorygames.com :)

I've investigated the issue and it looks like somehow the game thought you'd already picked up the lice.
It's on a timer, so I wonder if something interrupted it when you played it through, so that it got as far as recording the lice, but not to the point where it actually put them in your inventory.

Glad you managed to get infested though (never thought I'd have to say that... again).

Thank you so much for letting me know about this, I loved every second of it! You've nailed the ridiculous humor perfectly!!

Awesome, glad you enjoyed playing it! Your commentary is a joy as always 😁

Hmm. Sound disappears as soon as I mouse over any of the buttons in the start menu.

Ooh, that's a new one, I'm not even sure how it would do that. :)
Which OS are you using?

Win10.

Thanks! I’ll look into it. 👍🏻

Just to confirm, you mean the main menu in the game right, not the Windows Start menu?

Yes, it was. But I just tried the new version and it's working fine now.

Hooray!! 😁

Ace little game. Great humour and story, the puzzles are a good difficulty level too. Definitely going to keep an eye out for more titles from this developer.

Yay, that's great to hear! My new game demo will be launching shortly too. ;)

It's a fun little game. I only got really stuck once, because I didn't realize an object existed, but other than that, it was just the right level of challenge.

Wonderful game. Funny story, great looking and challenging enough to be engaging.  And good voiceacting, too. One of my favorites of the jam so far!

This is a fun play on Jekyll/Hyde. Sweet visuals & VO. I don't think the pies are for me though... #noCannibalism
